Vandals of the Week

Our school year is off to a great start! We have been practicing our routines and procedures. We are learning about being a leader and raising money to support cool things for our students. Our beginning of year testing is underway and we are up and running!

Thank you for your support this week with the IPro fundraiser. The funds raised will pay for things such as Vandal Buck prizes/parties, Rally awards and prizes, playground balls/toys, and our field trips including a visit to TJC (2nd graders), a visit to UT Tyler (3rd graders), and Splash Kingdom, just to name a few! We do appreciate your help with our fundraiser project!

We have some new things going on at Van Intermediate School this year. Be sure and ask your child about The Leader in Me, our GaGa Pit, and Dojo points in the cafeteria.

As always, my door is open to you! It is a pleasure to work with your children each day!

A Note From the Principal

We would love for your to join our PtP (parent-teacher partnership) group on Facebook. This group will allow parents to communicate with each other and organize special events or things they would like to do for teachers and volunteer at the school or school events. Please search for the “group” Van Intermediate PTP and ask to join the group or click the link below. You will be asked some questions and must answer them before being allowed to join.

Our Vandal Bucks are in full swing and next Friday will be the first time they get to redeem for prizes if they wish.

Thank you for all your support it truly takes a village!

Attendance reminders: We appreciate a call when your child is out but we will require a note within 5 days to be excused for illness. After 3 unexcused a note will be sent home via email and after 6 unexcused a note from the school will be sent home and once they reach 10 I will call and send a note. We also have some great incentives planned for good attendance.

If you are interested in signing up to come to speak on the intercom to the students about the path you took after high school and inspire students that they can dream big and accomplish great things if they work hard, then please sign up below.

This Week in 2nd Grade

Our students have been learning the characteristics of fairy tales this week in reading! Students had fun listening to a story, choosing one thing to change, then sharing their new story with partners.

This Week in 3rd Grade

3rd grade used place value disk and expanded notation to help them compose numbers up to 100,000.

Corner

We are learning all about leader in me and the 7 Habits of a Happy Kid!

This week we learned how to be bucket fillers in Counselor's Corner and Fine Arts

Vandal Bucks

Vandal Bucks have begun! This is a school-wide, positive incentive program where students may earn Vandal bucks to purchase rewards from the rewards menu. See the menu below and talk to your child at home to help us build interest! These bucks can be given by anyone in the school and there are even ways for the whole class to earn them.
