COLLEGE WEDNESDAY GUEST:
COLLEGE WEDNESDAY GUEST: mrs. Airheart
My name is Mrs. Airheart. I am a dyslexia therapist for both the Intermediate and Middle School campuses. Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. I would get off of the school bus, do my homework for the day and immediately begin “playing school”. I would sometimes even pretend that I was the teacher as I completed my homework. This helped me remember all of the things I had learned. I loved playing school so much that one Christmas, the three things I asked Santa to bring me were a chalkboard, a globe, and a gradebook!
After high school, I enrolled at East Texas State University (now Texas A&M Commerce) and began my college career. I worked in the Registrar’s office on campus which allowed me to not only make money while going to school, but also gave me the opportunity to meet many people. I was very involved in the Baptist Student Union and was selected to be on a traveling team with other college students and spend an entire summer in Europe! It was a great experience that I will never forget.
I decided that I wanted to continue my education, so I later earned my Master’s degree at UT Tyler.
I will always be a “lifelong learner”. I have realized that no matter my age, stretching my brain and learning new things is one of the best gifts that I can give to myself!
As Henry Ford once said, “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.”
I intend to stay young!
